Prom 2013!

Yes, the milestone event of my senior prom has come and gone as of last Saturday. It was however, the most amazing night ever! Shout-out to my WONDERFULLY PERFECT AND AMAZING date Nathan, who made it a night that I will never forget.

He was truly the best date that anyone could have ever asked for! He was lots of fun, and it was the best thing in the world to go with such a good friend that I was so comfortable being myself with. I know that I can say I had a good time, and that it was truly the best prom in the history of the world. It was so funny putting each other's flowers on since Jordan kept on trying to photo bomb us. We would get back at him and his date Clarisa later on though.

My mom of course had to get a picture of my hands so she could have a picture of my nails and my gorgeous corsage. My nails had a French tip with a thin gold line just below the tip.

Nathan and my brother Sam are really good friends too, so Nathan insisted on having Sam in one of our pictures. He of course had no problem with this, and it is a fun picture to have. You can tell that Sam is just beaming because he got the chance to be in one of the pictures.

After we took some pictures at my house, we went over to his house for some more pictures. This is where the photo bombing started again.

One of the biggest struggles of the night was getting in the car each time we went somewhere since my dress was so huge and puffy. Nathan was a sport though and we got it down to a science pretty quickly.

Isn't he the best? He honestly made my night by putting up with my dress that actually made me slip and step on his foot a few times when we were dancing, but he was a sport and we got through that crazy thing! Once we left his house, we went to Dylan's house for a delicious dinner and then down to Liberty Lake (the lake, not just the town around the lake) for pictures. After pictures, we headed down to the dance. We had to stop at Nathan and Jordan's house on the way though because Jordan forgot his and Clarisa's tickets. While they took almost fiveteen minutes getting the tickets, we took some funny pictures on his iPod.

The dance was a blast once we got there, and we had fun taking pictures in the photo booth that was there. Those pictures from the booth crack me up, and they definitely make a great facebook profile picture as well as the lock screen for my phone.

After the dance, we went and played laser tag, and I am sorry to say that I got last place out of the twenty six people in our game. It was so fun though that I didn't care. Pictures of our group will come later, but for now, all this will have to do.

AP Government "First Amendment Activity"

Today was senior skip day. Sadly, I had to go to school to finish a deadline for yearbook. I happened to finish that just in time, and am so grateful to have the stress of the last deadline of the year off of my shoulders. I was glad that I went to school though because of what happened in AP gov. We only had eight people in class along with our T.A. Since our teacher knew we would have so many people gone due to senior skip day, he didn't plan anything for us to do, which was funny because my one AP class was the class that didn't have anything going on and didn't have an expectation of being there or doing anything. My classmates decided that since we had nothing to do, we were going to build a fort. It started small...

And the fort got bigger...

And bigger...

And bigger until it used every desk, chair, and white board in the classroom. At this point, we decided that we would hold nothing back in making this fort, so we went to work.

We fortified this fort unlike anything else, and even made barricade like structures out of the chairs and made an entrance tunnel out of desks. Our teacher thought we were hilarious for doing this, but let us do it anyway. We told him that he should give us extra credit for being there and building the fort, so he had us take a vote to decide whether or not we would like extra credit. We obviously voted unanimously to get extra credit. He then asked us what he would put it in the grade book as. He came up with the idea to call it a "first amendment activity". The reason? We were exercising the "right of assembly" by assembling a fort. Clearly, this is not what is meant in the first amendment, but we thought it was clever and decided to go with it. In order for him to put it in the grade book, we all had to get up at the pulpit in the fort and give a speech explaining why we called the assignment what we did and why we should get extra credit for it. I doubt he will actually put it in the grade book, but it was still fun and worth a shot. Once the fort was finished, we decided that we would prepare to stay and ambush the class after us. In order to do this, we had to make a flag, several signs, and crumple up a bunch of butcher paper to throw at them as well as prepare an overhead projector to shine in their faces to "blind" them.

Sadly though, our "attack" didn't frighten sixth period, but they didn't like the signs that said "6th period sucks" in four different languages (and yes, we did purposely spell it wrong in English). This fort definitely made it worth my time to come to school today, and will be something that I remember for an awfully long time.

Prom Prep 2013

Here is part two: PROM! No it's not prom until this upcoming Saturday, but I had to get asked and stuff for it to all work out.

I got asked to prom by the one and only Nathan Mullen! Seriously the best thing ever! I am so excited that it's not even funny! He told me on March 22, the Friday before the Thursday he asked me, that he was going to ask me. He told me to not say yes to anyone else because he was going to ask me, but that he wanted to do it in a cute way. With that on my mind, I was anxious all week waiting for him to answer. I knew he was extremely busy with the school play, but I was still pretty darn anxious. He called me Thursday afternoon to "ask if I was going to the choir concert that night." I told him that no, I was busy with a church meeting. He then proceeded to ask when my meeting was along with how long it went until. After he had secured in his mind when I would be gone, he asked me if anyone would be home to let him in. I told him there would be without a doubt. I then left for my meeting with the anticipation that there would be something waiting for me when I got home that night. At about 7:45, in the middle of my meeting, my phone started ringing. It was Nathan. I had to get up and leave my meeting just to answer his call. He was calling to make sure that my meeting was "running late" and that I would take my time coming home after. I assured him that I would take my time coming home. That stinker hadn't even gotten to my house yet, and my meeting had been going for 45 minutes and had about 15 minutes left. When I finally got home, I found this:

He had put 100 balloons with a TON of confetti all over the floor! He had arrived at my house and had my family help him carry down bags and bags of balloons that he had blown up himself the night before. His car was so stuffed that there was barely room for him (trust me, he showed me pictures of his car). With such a grand feat accomplished, I had to answer in a grand way as well.

To answer him, I put my creative skills to the test and made a music video that was a song parody of "I See the Light" from Disney's movie Tangled. Why this song? Well, one time he came over to my house and we sang that song because we both love that movie and I happen to have a book with the sheet music in it. Yes, I know it is cheesy, but it was so fun to do!

The video was a pain and a half to edit since I had to convert file types and completely redo the video since the sound and video didn't match up starting about half way through the video. It took me an entire day to film and edit this video as well as the day before to record the two layers of sound.

Needless to say, if you watched the video that is, I am planning on going to prom with Nathan, and my dress is a pretty slightly gold yellow with gold jewelry/shoes/other such accents. It is crazy to believe that prom is less than one week away, but I am still super excited!

Spring Break 2013

Here is the more in-depth version of last week's post. Since I did so much, I am going to split it into two posts.

For spring break, we went to Salt Lake City, Utah for a conference for my church. It is this thing called General Conference that is put on twice a year for the members of my church to hear the world-wide leaders speak to the church. Most of the time, my family usually just stays at home and watches it on TV or streams it off the Internet. This was our first time going to be there live, and it truly was a marvelous and unforgettable experience.

While in Salt Lake, we stayed with my wonderful aunt and cousins. I almost never get to see them anymore, so it was so much fun! One of my cousins had gotten married and had a son since I last saw her, and it was amazing to get to go see her and her son. Let me tell you, that boy is ADORABLE and has the biggest blue eyes that I have just about ever seen! We also got to visit my dad's brother and his family while in Utah, and my cousin is the cutest little boy with the best signature dance move! Unfortunately, I had a hard time uploading the video of him dancing though!

While on this trip, we spent A LOT of time in the car, but we still made it to our destination despite the long drive. The skies provided me with some beautiful pictures as we drove along, and my siblings were good and posed for some silly pictures as w left for our trip and from my aunt's house to the conference itself.

We also got to do some sightseeing around Salt Lake while we were there. I had seen most of it in the past, but the beauty of it all still leaves me in awe. And we of course had to go to BYU to see the campus and get ice cream from the creamery!

Before we got to Utah however, we made a stop in Rexburg, Idaho. Yes it is just a little place in the middle of nowhere, but it is where I am going to school next year. The campus is definitely on a hill, but I can handle that!
